Art 120 Introduction to Studio: Fall 2004
2-Dimensional Art Foundations
Professor Gregory Huebner
The course is designed to help the student learn to work with basic 2-dimensional concepts and their vocabulary. The course investigates the elements of design, studies the interaction of color, and introduces the students to freehand drawing. Projects will address conceptual and perceptual problems through a variety of media.
Text: Art Fundamentals: Theory and Practice, Ninth Edition by Ocvirk, Stinson, Wigg, Bone, Clayton
Class Discussions: Each Monday from September 6 to November 15, we will discuss one of the chapters in the text. This will always take place at the beginning of class unless there is a critique that day; in that case, the critique will precede the class discussion. We will also have a chapter vocabulary quiz on these Mondays.
Design Projects: We will have 15 Design Projects this semester. Each work must be completed for the critique of that project. Late or unfinished projects will not be accepted. See syllabus for project description and critique dates. Critiques are always at the beginning of the class (1:10 pm) on the dates posted. Attendance at critiques is required.
