Wabash Hokum Karem: Crawfordsville, IN, 10:30AM
Wabash will serve as host for the 51st Hokum Karem, a racing style created by J. Owen Huntsman during his time as the Little Giants' coach. The Hokum Karem, designed to provide runners with early season competition on a practice basis, places runners on two-man teams and adds the relay aspect of track meets to cross country. The two-man team races on a six-mile course, with each runner alternating miles. Women compete over a four-mile course. Both runners on the two-person team run a series of one-mile loops, so the distance isn't quite as challenging as a standard collegiate cross country course. While one member of the team is running, the other rests. At the end of each mile, the runners exchange batons and the incoming team member gets to rest while their partner runs the next mile.
The men's race starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by the women's race at 11 a.m.
