| |
The Wabash Society for the Furthering of the Liberal Arts (WSFLA) will be hosting Patrick Stroud, '14 and his talk entitled "DePauw and 'Deep Play': What a College Sports Rivalry has to do with Balinese Cockfighting"
Abstract: In the spring of 2012, Patrick worked with the history of the Wabash-DePauw sports rivalry as a research opportunity within his History of Sport and Physical Education course with Dr. Salisbury. Since then, his ways of doing history have come into question--leaving him to question some historical methodologies. In this presentation, we will explore a basic history of the Wabash-DePauw rivalry, and then apply it to a more modern method of analysis via the work of anthropologist Clifford Geertz.
All are welcome to attend.
