While the Professional Bowlers Association won’t be calling anytime soon, the National Capital Association of Wabash Men (NCAWM) served Wabash College well on Wabash Day by volunteering with Special Olympics D.C. during a bowling event with some 38 Special Olympics DC athletes.

As a part of the National Association of Wabash Men’s first annual WABASH Day, the seven volunteers, including Greg Miklusak ’74, Robert Kachur ’87, Rick Strasser ’02 and wife, Kristin, Scott Medsker ’03 and girlfriend, Lauren Sealey, and Brock Medsker ’05, enjoyed themselves as much as the Special Olympics athletes.

Spearheaded by Scott Medsker and Rick Strasser, the event seemed to strike up a strong interest amongst the volunteers with several pledging to get involved with Special Olympics D.C. on a more regular basis. The overall event was extremely successful, but the actual bowling by the Wabash volunteers was a different story. When asked about their performance as bowlers, most were silent. Scott Medsker said, "W.A.B.A.S.H. Day is not about winning or losing a bowling game, rather it’s about giving back to the community and helping those that are less fortunate."

The NCAWM hopes to grow W.A.B.A.S.H. Day in the future and continue proudly representing Wabash College by serving the Washington, D.C.-area community.
