Homecoming Concert Presented Saturday Evening

The Wabash College Music Department will open its concert season at 8 p.m., Saturday, October 4, in Salter Hall in the Fine Arts Center. The concert, in conjunction with Wabash’s Homecoming, will feature a festive program of vocal and instrumental music.
The Wabash College Glee Club, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Wamidan World Music Ensemble will present an evening of music.
The Glee Club, under the direction of Richard Bowen, will sing High Barbary by Arthur Hall; Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal by Alice Parker; and Hey, Look Me Over by Cy Coleman. They will finish their program with Old Wabash and the Alma Mater, directed by Justin Bilby, Wabash class of 2009.
The Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Peter Hulen, will perform Two Pavans by Melchior Franck and Washington Post March by John Philip Sousa.
The Jazz Band, under the direction of Steve Robinett, will perform Ow by Dizzy Gillespie and Now’s the Time by Charlie Parker. Both compositions were arranged for the Jazz Band by Robinett.
Wamidan World Music Ensemble, under the direction of James Makubuya, will perform Ajulin, an instrumental folk song of the Acholi people and performed on xylophones, bow harps, thumb pianos, and drums and Aije, a harvest folk dance of the Acholi people.
The concert is free and open to the public.
