Jazz Band to Present End-of-Year Concert Saturday Evening

The Wabash College Jazz Band will present its year-end concert at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 15, in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center.

The Jazz Band and Jazz Combo, under the direction of Stephen Robinett, includes students and community members. They will perform the Wabash Blues, Duke Ellington’s Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me; Count Basie's April In Paris; Glenn Miller’s In The Mood; Four by Miles Davis; and Salt Peanuts by Dizzy Gillespie. Wabash College junior, Desmond Risper, will be featured on tenor saxophone with a special arrangement of Erroll Garner’s Misty that was written for this concert. The Jazz Combo will perform several jazz standards composed by Stanley Turrentine, Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk, and Dizzy Gillespie.

Robinett has been a professional trumpeter gathering experience "on the road" with the bands of the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Guy Lombardo Orchestra, and more. Robinett has also toured with stars like Perry Como, Andy Williams, Pia Zadora, Burt Bacharach, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, and the O’Jay’s.

Admission to the concert is free and it is open to the public.
