Painting the Bench

I slept in almost until noon, a new ability I have discovered in college. My English paper was due the next day, so I went to finish it. I completed it just in time to hear that tonight was the night we were going to paint the Senior Bench.

I was excited. Painting the Senior Bench has been a tradition for generations. Each fraternity on campus paints the bench in their house colors. My friends and I went to pick up the paint, while my other classmates guarded the bench to make sure that no other fraternity would be painting it.

The rule is that you must paint the bench at night, and the painters have to keep watch to ensure others won’t destroy what you made.
Night was falling, and we had returned with the paint. I let the more artistic students design the bench, because I am useless when it comes to decorating. We began painting at 9:30 at night. At 5:30 in the morning, the bench was finished.

I never laughed as hard as I did when we were painting. My class has such a diverse background, yet we all get along perfectly. I will remember this night for the rest of my life.
