Alex Miller '71

Alex is a Senior Vice President and General Manager for a Systems Integration and Software Development business unit of L-3 Communications. His business unit performs work for the National Security Agency and the Office of Naval Intelligence. He joined L-3 in 2005 after retiring as a Rear Admiral in the US Navy where he served as a cryptologist for over 33 years, participated in submarine, shipborne, and airborne reconnaissance operations in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and the Mediterranean Sea, and commanded Cryptologic Activities in Japan and Athens Greece. In his final tour of duty, Alex was the Chief of Staff, post 9/11, for the National Security Agency. Alex has been active in the National Capital Association of Wabash Men since 2001 and served on the board of the association from 2004-2006. Since graduating from Wabash in 1971, Alex has returned to campus many times to speak to prospective and current students about Wabash and job opportunities in the Navy and the intelligence field. Most recently, Alex was one of four alumni asked to speak to the high school students attending the Wabash College Boys State Scholarship Reception. In addition, Alex has hosted and given job externships to Wabash students for the past four years and he has aided four Wabash graduates to find employment in the Washington, DC area. Alex continues to mentor Wabash students, is a member of the 1832 Society, and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Wabash in 2006.
