Poetry Reading by Aracelis Girmay

Wabash College will host Aracelis Girmay, winner of the 2009 GLCA New Writers Award in Poetry, on Monday, March 22. She will read from her book, Teeth, at 8 p.m. in Center Hall, room 216. A reception and book signing will follow her reading in Center 206.
 
Aracelis Girmay’s book, Teeth, is a collection of poems published by Curbstone Press in 2007. Her poems have been published in Ploughshares, Bellevue Literary Review, Indiana Review, Callaloo, and MiPOesias, among other journals. Her collage-based picture book, Changing, Changing: Story and Collages, was published by George Braziller in 2005.
 
She has been a featured reader at the Udi Aloni Project Room, Studio Museum in Harlem, Bowery Poetry Club, and prisons in Trenton and Manhattan. A Cave Canem fellow, Girmay teaches writing workshops in New York and California.
 
Girmay’s reading is free and open to the public.
