Groninger, Glowinski Start Strong in NCAC Events

Evan Groninger took second place and Sam Glowinski finished fifth at the 2011 North Coast Athletic Conference Multi-Event Championship Meet held Saturday and Sunday at Oberlin College. 

The Little Giants tallied a total of 12 points that will go toward next weekend's NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet. Wabash won its first NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championship earlier this year.

Groninger tallied a total of 5,405 points in the decathlon, while Glowinski scored a total of 4,490 points. Groninger opened with a 736-point effort in the 100-meter dash, winning the event with a time of 11.58. He added another 719 points to his total with a finishing time of 16.12 for the best individual performance in the 110-meter hurdles. Groninger added another first place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 55.15 meters (180 feet, 11 inches) to score a total of 665 points.

Glowinski grabbed the top spot in the pole vault, clearing 3.94 meters (12 feet, 11 inches) to score 601 points.
