How do you advocate for yourself as a woman in a male-dominated industry? For The New Yorker crossword constructor Anna Shechtman, it’s about showing the value you provide by adding a different perspective. “Things that I would think were definitely puzzle worthy, male puzzle editors disagreed with at the time,” Shechtman says of getting rejected by big newspapers and magazines when she first started out. As she advocated for herself and other minorities in the space, she also found success in more users feeling the puzzles were relatable to them: “What's so interesting is that you can see how direct the link is from a more diversified field of constructors into the product itself.” What’s your advice for overcoming gender barriers and standing up for your perspective? Weigh in below.

However, looking back, she says she wishes she had an honest conversation with her employer about balancing the two. “If I could have done it again, I think I would have taken my full-time role part-time while working and spending more hours on the business,” she says. “It felt like it had to be all or nothing…I wish I had more inquisitive conversations and advocated for myself more in the workplace to figure out how to strike a balance between serving the company and my own needs.” Do you have a side hustle with your full-time job? How are you making it work? Let us know in the comments. Watch the full episode of #Catalyst: https://lnkd.in/gyVKki6k

While not entirely new, sovereign AI has gained steam in recent months, with countries across the globe racing to harness AI’s potential to boost their national security, socioeconomic and cultural interests. More Americans are moving — and moving longer distances, new LinkedIn data shows. That often means relocating away from friends and family. Over one-third of professionals in the U.S. say they have moved at least an hour from their friends and family for theirs or their partner’s career advancement , according to LinkedIn’s latest Workforce Confidence survey. Among those who have moved away, millennials were the most likely to do so to advance their own career or a partner’s, followed by Gen Xers. A separate LinkedIn analysis shows that there’s been an increase in long-distance moves in the U.S. in recent years, with the most likely landing spots being southern states including Florida and North Carolina. Gen Z workers are the most likely to be making big moves. What should professionals take into consideration before relocating for better career opportunities? Weigh in below.
