45th Annual Christmas Festival

Wabash College’s 45th Annual Christmas Festival of Music and Readings will take place on Wednesday, December 5 in the Wabash College Chapel. Preludial music of the season will commence around 7:30. The Festival will begin at 8:00 pm.

The Christmas Festival, which started at Wabash in 1968, alternates performances of musical numbers, congregational hymns, and readings from the Bible. It is modeled on the King’s College Festival of Lessons and Carols at Cambridge University in England.

The Christmas Festival will feature traditional songs, including a number of pieces performed by the Wabash College Brass Ensemble, the String Ensemble, and the Recorder Ensemble, as well as Wamidan, the Wamidan Children’s Ensemble, the T-Tones, and the Wabash College Glee Club.

Also included in the program will be a vocal solo by Lisa Lowry, Wabash College adjunct instructor of voice, and piano music by Sam Vaught and Cheryl Everett. Organ music will be performed by Cheryl Everett.

Readers for the evening will include Nathan Walters, Melissa Butler, Frank Ruvoli, Will Turner, Sara Drury, Cathy VanArsdall, Matt Sears, D.J. Young, John Streiff, and Patrick White.

The traditional Christmas Festival is co-sponsored by the music and religion departments and is free and open to the public. There will be a reception following the Festival in the Sparks Center.
