Improvements are being made to the long jump runway and pit, located behind the Wabash sideline.  The construction crew remarked that this is the largest long jump landing pit they have ever installed.

These silver sheets of metal will serve as covers for the long jump landing pit.  They will be coated with a material similar to the track surface.  The black plastic mats will cover the metal drains that surround the pit.

a hole in the ground with pipes

This hole was hollowed out for the foundation of the new scoreboard.  The protruding wires will power the scoreboard, set to arrive July 21st.
