Associate Professor of Chemistry Scott Feller is applauded by faculty colleagues after learning he has won the 2009 McLain-McTurnan-Arnold Excellence in Teaching Award. "As much a celebrator of student scholarship as his own, this scientist leads by collaborating with his Wabash students," said Dean of the College Gary Phillips. He then quoted Feller: "I believe very strongly that undergraduates can do real, scientific research. They can discover new things. The best way to hook a student on science is to work with him one-on-one on a problem that neither professor nor student knows the solution to." Associate Professor of Economics Joyce Burnette was named this year's McLain-McTurnan-Arnold Research Scholar.
