The extraordinary generosity of Wabash alumni and friends over the years has enabled us to maintain this outstanding merit scholarship program. The information contained here should answer your basic questions about Merit Scholarships and our policies governing the same.
THE WABASH COLLEGE PROMISE
The Wabash Promise is based on our historic commitment to provide a superior liberal arts education to qualified men regardless of their financial circumstances. Our need-based aid and merit scholarships fulfill this promise.
Need-Based Financial Aid for Indiana Students
- Academically qualified Federal Pell Grant recipients from Indiana will receive grants to reduce the balance in direct costs to $3,000 annually after utilizing Federal Loans.
- Academically qualified students from families residing in Indiana with adjusted gross incomes up to $125,000 will receive grants to lower the Wabash tuition and fees equivalent to tuition and fees at the state’s flagship university.
Need-Based Financial Aid for students from Chicago, northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin and eastern Iowa
- Academically qualified Federal Pell Grant recipients will receive grants to cover the balance of all tuition and fees not covered by government grants.
- Application for admission must be completed by March 1, 2024.

- Wabash College practices test-optional admission. Applicants are not required to submit standardized test scores as part of their application for admission.
- This review will place additional weight on the rigor of the applicant’s high school curriculum as well as his performance in his college preparatory courses.
- All standardized test score submissions will be super scored.

Tuition Exchange and GLCA Tuition Remission Exchange are tuition benefits for employees of certain post-secondary institutions and their dependents. The employing institution (also called the “home” or “exporting” institution) determines eligibility for either program. Eligible employees should contact the Tuition Exchange or GLCA Tuition Remission Exchange representative at their home institution (typically in the human resources or financial aid offices) to initiate the application process.
Tuition Exchange —Students must apply for admission to Wabash College and designate Wabash on the Tuition Exchange application no later than December 1. Selections are made on a competitive basis; typically, two or three new applications are approved to be imported each year. Applicants are notified by mid-December of the selection committee’s decision. Tuition Exchange is valued at full-tuition each year.
GLCA Tuition Remission Exchange (TRE)—Students should apply for admission to Wabash College no later than December 1. TRE is valued at full-tuition, minus 15% of the mean charge of tuition for the participating colleges.
Both benefits are available for eight semesters and students must make satisfactory academic progress to retain eligibility. The parent/guardian eligible employee must reapply with and be approved by the home institution each year. Students should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) each year to apply for other federal and/or state grant assistance. Recipients of Tuition Exchange and the GLCA Tuition Remission Exchange benefits are not eligible for Wabash merit-based assistance.
Wabash College is an active participant in the Department of Defense Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding.
ARMY ROTC Scholarship Program
The Army ROTC Scholarship program provides up to three scholarships for entering Wabash freshmen each year who are chosen by the Army to participate in the ROTC program. The scholarships will cover the full cost of tuition and on-campus housing and food at Wabash, as well as all costs associated with ROTC courses. Scholarship Cadets are also given a book allowance of $600 per semester along with a $420 per month, tax free stipend allowance during each school year. The value for four-year participants is in excess of $240,000.
Up to five additional freshmen selected for the ROTC program will receive a Wabash ROTC Scholarship and on-campus room and board their first year. These students will receive full-ride scholarships for their remaining three years at the College.
The minimum standards that must be met in order to be eligible for a scholarship are:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be between the ages of 17 and 26
- Have a high school or college Cumulative GPA of at least 2.50
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Score minimum of 1000 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT
- Meet the minimum physical standards of the Army Physical Fitness Test
- Be medically qualified through the Department of Defense Medical Evaluation Review Board (DODMERB) or a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS)
- Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component - (U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard)
