Caleb Mills House
South of Hovey Cottage is the CALEB MILLS HOUSE. Mills was the first professor at Wabash and is in large measure responsible for the status of Wabash as an independent college. He also is considered the father of the public school system in Indiana. In 1836, Mills built this house, where he lived for 43 years. The house was privately owned until 1926, when it was deeded to the College and briefly became the President's home and later the home of several directors of development. After renovations in 1993, it now serves as the guest house and entertainment site for many campus visitors.
