Brass Ensemble to Present Concert on Wednesday

The Wabash College Brass Ensemble will present a spring concert on
Wednesday, April 20 at 8 p.m. in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts
Center. The ensemble is under the direction of Peter Hulen, Byron K.
Trippet assistant professor of music at Wabash and first year director
of the Brass Ensemble.
The Brass Ensemble recently participated in a workshop with visiting
artists, The American Brass Quintet. Peter Hulen remarks about working
with the visiting artists, “It was a great experience to work with a
group like the American Brass Quintet. The workshop was very helpful and
the professionals’ tips enhanced our playing technique and playing
The Brass Ensemble, which includes students, faculty, and community
members, will perform Trumpet Voluntary by John Stanley; Three
Madrigals (My Bonny Lass by Thomas Morley, Sweet Love Doth
Now Invite by John Dowland, and Now is the Month of Maying by
Morley); Three Dances by Johann Pezel; “Contrapunctus IV” from
Die Kunst Der Fuge by J. S. Bach; Hosanna to the Son of David by
Orlando Gibbons; and Music for King Charles II by Matthew Locke.
Participating in the concert are Bob Foote, Jim Sexton, and Tim Ulrey on
trumpet; Anne Sexton on horn; Dan Ristine and Michael Warner on
trombone; Andy DeRolf on euphonium; and Bryan Roesler on tuba.
Admission to the concert is free. The public is cordially invited.
