The Wabash cross country team finished 12th out of 16 teams in the Gold Division of the 2010 Notre Dame Invitational Friday afternoon in South Bend, Indiana.
Senior Seth Einterz posted the fastest time for the Little Giants, finishing 30th overall with a time of 25:50. Donavan White was 65th, crossing the finish line in 26:31. Justin Allen was 67th overall with a time of 26:37. Kevin McCarthy was 76th (26:47), while Brian David finished 80th (26:54).
Wabash scored a total of 302 points in the team competition. Eastern Michigan won the team competition in the Gold Division with a total of 47 points.
"We're disappointed," head coach Roger Busch said. "I think we learned as a team we can't just show up and run and hope to do well. We have to prepare and plan for the race. We have to know how we want to run.
"Now we have to rebuild from scratch. We'll run against some very strong competition at the pre-nationals in Iowa next weekend. We've got five weeks to put everything together so we are ready to compete as a team."
Wabash will split its team next weekend. A portion of the Little Giant squad will compete at the Gibson Family Invitational, hosted by Rose-Hulman at the Indiana State University Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. The rest of the Wabash team will compete at the pre-national race at Wartbarg College, hosts of the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship meet in November.
