Chamber Orchestra to Give Concert Sunday

The Wabash College Chamber Orchestra presents its spring concert at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 22, in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center.

Under the direction of Alfred Abel, the program features two great works in the symphonic repertoire, Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony # 7 in A Major and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5-Reformation.

An instantaneous success, Symphony # 7 in A Major is a favorite among concertgoers, and recently found a new generation of enthusiasts via the award-winning movie, The King's Speech, which featured the same movement prominently on its soundtrack.

Mendelssohn's “Reformation” Symphony, also a staple of the classical symphonic repertoire, incorporates the subject of the chorale “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.”

The concert is free and open to the public. As always, families are encouraged to attend, since this is a relaxed and friendly setting in which to introduce fans of all ages to classical music.
