Doug Irwin to Give Rogge Lecture

Douglas IrwinDoug Irwin, Professor of Economics at Dartmouth College, will present the 2018 Benjamin A. Rogge Memorial Lecture. His talk titled, “Understanding Trump’s Trade Policy,” will take place at 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10 in Baxter Hall, room 101.

Irwin is the author of five books: Clashing over Commerce: A History of U.S. Trade PolicyFree Trade Under FireTrade Policy Disaster: Lessons from the 1930sPeddling Protectionism: Smoot-Hawley and the Great DepressionThe Genesis of the GATT, (co-authored with Petros Mavroidis and Alan Sykes); and Against the Tide: An Intellectual History of Free Trade, as well as many articles on trade policy in books and professional journals. He is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and has also served on the staff of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.  

There will be a reception immediately following the evening lecture in Baxter Hall’s Rogge Lounge. His talk is free and open to the public.
