Saxophone Quartet Performing at Wabash

Donald Sinta QuartetThe Wabash College Visiting Artist Series presents chamber music specialists the Donald Sinta Quartet. The performance will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center.

Gold Medalists at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the Donald Sinta Quartet presents a diverse repertoire of chamber music, ranging from commissions by today’s emerging composers to standards from the saxophone quartet literature to transcriptions by master composers such as Beethoven, Dvorak, Schubert, and Shostakovich.

As advocates of new music, the quartet runs the National Saxophone Quartet Composition Competition, which selects two new quartet works from up-and-coming composers. The group just recorded its debut CD, to be released soon on CAG Records. Founded and still based in Michigan, DSQ’s members are all Selmer-Paris Artists.

Featured international appearances for the group include recitals at the World Saxophone Congress (Strasbourg, France and St. Andrews, Scotland); Paris, France; Geneva and Montreux, Switzerland; Osaka, Japan; and Thessaloniki, Greece.

This performance is for the general audiences and suitable for all ages. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Tickets are FREE, but are required for Visiting Artist Series events. Reserve your tickets online at www.wabash.edu/boxoffice. If not sold out, tickets will also be available at the box office window.
