Wabash Celebrates Sixth Day of Giving

Wabash College is asking its campus, community, and friends to “Step Up For Wabash” for its sixth annual Day of Giving on Wednesday, April 10. This year, the goal is to receive 4,410 gifts by midnight.

Last year, the College shattered its goal of 4,180 gifts in one day by receiving 5,175 gifts and raising more than $1 million.

Combining the ideas of crowd funding—specific goals in a specific time period—with the buzz of social media, the #StepUpForWabash campaign hopes to inspire participation and strengthen ties to the College.

“The Day of Giving is always a very special day — a time when the entire Wabash community of students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the College come together to celebrate our tradition of philanthropy,” President Hess said. “The Day of Giving raises our expectations for what we as a College can accomplish when we band together for the good of our students. This year, I encourage everyone who believes in our time-honored mission to #StepUpForWabash with a gift to our Annual Fund.”

On Wednesday, the Wabash campus will enjoy a variety of events throughout the day to inspire excitement and engagement, including coffee and donuts on the steps of Pioneer Chapel, lunch and activities in Chadwick Court, and a bubble soccer game on Fischer Field.

Alumni across the country will also be hosting get-togethers and after-work viewing parties.

Last fall, Wabash announced its Giant Steps campaign, the largest comprehensive fundraising campaign in the College’s history. This year’s Day of Giving offers everyone the opportunity to #StepUpForWabash and demonstrate their belief and pride in the College.

Anyone can participate by following these four steps: make a gift, convince others to do the same, spread the word through your social networks with the hashtag #StepUpForWabash, and enjoy the excitement and success.
