Calpulli Mexican Dance Company to Perform Saturday

Wabash College’s Visiting Artists Series will present the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company on Saturday, September 3 in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center. The performance starts at 8 p.m. They will present Tiempo de Cempazuchitl (The Time of the Marigold).

Founded in 2003 in New York City by artists who sought to enrich the quality of Mexican folkloric dance, the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company has quickly gained a reputation for energetic performances that leave audiences asking for more. The company’s mission is to produce dance-based performances that incorporate music and theatre to promote a diverse image of Mexican cultural heritage. The result is a magnificent blend of color and spectacle, music and dance, theatre and costumes that celebrate Mexico’s artistic traditions.

Seating for Visiting Artists Series events will be by general admission, though free tickets are required for Visiting Artists Series programs. Tickets for the fall semester events will be available September 1, 2005
