Wabash 20th on NWCA Scholar Wrestling Team List

The Wabash wrestling team has been named to the 2010-2011 National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar Wrestling Team. Little Giant wresters Josh Boyer, Pat Clegg, and Graham Youngs have been named to the NWCA Scholar All-America team.

Wabash posted a team GPA of 3.271 to finish 20th out of 89 Division III programs. The team GPA is calculated as an average of the top ten students on each team. At least six of the ten athletes chosen must have competed in the NCAA qualifying tournament, and the other athletes must have competed in 50% of the team's scheduled contests. 

Boyer, a junior, finished the season with an overall record of 22-12 in the 125-pound weight class. A biology major, Boyer has a cumulative GPA of 3.236.

Clegg posted a 20-12 overall record as a heavyweight for the Wabash program. The sophomore is a chemistry major with a cumulative GPA of 3.507.

Youngs wrestled to a 32-22 overall record as a senior at 157 pounds. He is a philosophy major and has a cumulative GPA of 3.597.

Wrestlers must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher and either be an NCAA qualifier, place in the NCAA-qualifying tournament, or have won more than 66 percent of his matches to be named a Scholar All-American by the NWCA.
