Ring in the New Year by Supporting Wabash students!

Hess Rings in Class of 2020Since President Hess rang the Caleb Mills Bell to start this academic year, students have answered the bell’s call every day in the classroom, in our communities, and in immersive experiences around the world. As we ring in the New Year, the Wabash Community must remain committed—with consistent, yearly support—to having an impact on the current generation of Wabash Men.

HERE ARE 5 WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT WABASH STUDENTS BY DECEMBER 31, 2016:

1. MAKE A GIFT BEFORE THE NEW YEAR

Take advantage of state and federal tax benefits by making a gift to the College by December 31. Make your gift online now using our new giving page or call the Advancement Office at 877-743-4545 to make your gift today!

  • Make a credit card gift by midnight December 31 to receive credit for the 2016 tax year.
  • Call the Advancement Office during regular business hours to make a gift or get more information on how to make gifts of appreciated stock or mutual funds.
  • Gifts made by mail must be postmarked “December 31” to receive credit for the 2016 tax year. Gifts can be mailed to:

Wabash College / Advancement Office / PO Box 352 / Crawfordsville, IN  47933

NOTE:  While Wabash College offices will close the final week of December for the holidays, the Advancement Office WILL BE OPEN Tuesday, December 27 - Friday, December 30 from 8:00am to 4:30pm EST.

2. GO MONTHLY—BE FLEXIBLE WITH YOUR BUDGET

Make a big impact on Wabash students while working with your budget—spread your gift over twelve months or four quarters.

3. DOUBLE YOUR GIFT

Take just a few minutes to double the impact of your gift. Visit our Matching Gift website to find out if your company will match your gift to Wabash. Some will even match gifts by retirees, spouses, or partners of employees. What’s even better is that most companies with these programs will match donations made at any point during the last year

4. USING YOUR TRADITIONAL IRA FOR GIVING

New tax legislation allows those who are 70 ½ or older to give up to $100K per year to Wabash through their Traditional IRA. If you are taking required minimum distributions (RMDs) into your income, you can take advantage of the IRA Rollover to satisfy in part or in whole your RMD. For more information, click on Charitable IRA Rollover and if you want to pursue a rollover gift, please click on Rollover Instructions

5. INDIANA RESIDENTS:  TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE STATE TAX CREDIT WHEN GIVING TO WABASH

If you file an Indiana income tax return, the state will credit up to 50% of your gift to Wabash against your state income taxes. Individual filers receive $100 credit for the first $200 contributed to Wabash, while joint filers receive $200 credit for the first $400 contributed to the College.

Example

Tax Filing Status Married Single
Initial Gift $400 $200
Indiana Tax Credit ($200) ($100)
Federal Tax Savings (25% tax rate)* ($100) ($50)
Total Out-of-Pocket After Filing Taxes $100 $50
Total Impact on Wabash $400 $200

*Higher federal tax rate results in higher federal tax savings.
