Wabash Mourns Mary Ann Salter

Mary Ann Salter, 85 of Crawfordsville passed away Friday at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville.

Mary Ann was born May 18, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William Osborne & Opal Johnson Morse. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crawfordsville. She was also an active volunteer serving in the Christian Nursing Service, The Athenian women’s group, and the Illinois Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis S. Salter, who served as the 12th President of Wabash College.

 

She is survived by her sons David R. (Kimbra) Salter of Rio, IL; Allen (Kim Hirschman) Salter of Evanston, IL; John M. (Joyce) Salter of La Crescenta, CA; and Andrew L. (Carolina) Salter of Crawfordsville. Mary Ann is also survived by a brother William A. Morse of Broken Arrow, OK as well as seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Isaac Zull officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
