Description: This course will explore theological and philosophical questions by reading works of literature. The questions will include the problem of evil, the potential meaning(s) of suffering, the experience of faith and doubt, and the miracle of forgiveness and reconciliation, and others. The works of literature will include short stories, novels, and poems, mostly drawn from English-language writers of the last 100 years, but with some exceptions. A secondary goal of the class is to reflect on the ways literature, religion and culture inter-relate.
