After the Bell - All Roads Lead from Wabash: How the Little Giants of Liberal Arts Shaped Classical Liberal Scholarship with Daniel D’Amico
The shared usage of the word “liberal” across “classical liberalism” (an intellectual tradition) and “liberal arts” (a program for organizing higher education) is not a mere coincidence. Liberal arts education entails explicit and implicit commitments to a variety of classically liberal ideals such as freedom of conscience, individual rights and the continual pursuit of a free society. If one were to tell a thorough history of classical liberal ideas since the mid twentieth century, Wabash College would arguably be the setting for much of the early chapters.
