ENG 310 Studies in Literary Genres: Drama: Elizabethan and Jacobean
A survey of non-Shakespearean drama of the English Renaissance, through
the reigns of Elizabeth and James I. We will read tragedies, histories,
and comedies by several of Shakespeare's contemporaries, including
Christopher Marlowe, Ben Johnson, Thomas Dekker, and John Webster. We will
also consider the actual conditions of acting, producing, and audience
reception for early English drama plays. (Not offered 2005-2006)
