Educational Technologist

Wabash College invites applications for the position of Educational Technologist in our Information Technology Services department. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. The Educational Technologist provides support and administration of the College’s learning management system (currently Canvas) and other academic and educational software and tools; assures appropriate use of educational systems through effective consulting and training; supports the use of digital media in the College’s academic program, and manages the College’s educational technology center. The Educational Technologist is an active member of the Information Technology Services Department, which supports all technology on campus.

 

Primary duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Provide support, assessment, implementation, and training for academic and educational software and tools, including the College’s learning management system (currently Canvas), and assure widespread adoption and use by faculty and students.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with faculty to enhance teaching and learning through the identification, assessment, adoption, and integration of effective educational innovations into the curriculum. Provide pedagogical and technical consulting to design, develop, and implement instructional content, courses and projects that enrich teaching and learning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the academic community to understand institutional educational goals, and assist and advise students, faculty and staff in choosing, developing, and implementing the most appropriate technologies to achieve specific educational objectives.
  • Manage the daily operation of the educational technology center, a high-end computer laboratory and instructional space that features spaces for podcast and video creation, as well as workstations for digital video editing, audio manipulation, image and document scanning, mobile device management, and large format printing.
  • Supervise student employees who provide a range of educational technology consulting services, such as digitizing content, producing promotional posters and similar materials for select campus events, and assisting with designing and delivering educational technology solutions.
  • Provide excellent instruction both in a classroom and one-on-one settings and produce clear and effective documentation and instructional materials.

 

Education, prior work experience, and specialized skills and knowledge: Bachelor’s degree required. Experience with a course management system such as Canvas, as well as emerging technologies such as AI and VR highly desired. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, mobile computing, and experience with a broad range of productivity and educational software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud products is required. Position requires excellent customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to learn new programs and technologies quickly; and ability to communicate effectively on technical issues with a wide audience. Higher education experience preferred.
