Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Procurement Manager and Senior Buyer serves a critical role for the College related to general procurement for the institution. The position is responsible for procuring services, materials, and supplies using best practices to maximize purchasing power and meet campus needs.  The position is also responsible for day-to-day management of the campus bookstore operations.  This position will report administratively to the Director of Auxiliary and Insurance Services and requires some evening and weekend work.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Procure services, materials, and supplies for campus needs in accordance with the institution’s procure-to-pay process.
  • Leverage relationships with buying consortiums and preferred vendors to maximize cost-effectiveness and satisfy requisition specifications.
  • Research, identify, and onboard new vendors to expand competitiveness and quality of institution purchases.
  • Assist with administration of the College’s purchasing card program.
  • Manage day-to-day business relationships with vendors.
  • Research, plan, and order product offerings for the campus bookstore and e-commerce website, ensuring an optimal mix of items and adequate inventory levels throughout the year.
  • Direct bookstore staff, consisting of two team members, to ensure a quality customer service experience for campus and community patrons.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3-5 years of experience in account management and procurement, preferably in the higher education sector is required.
  • Experience in retail marketing and management is preferred.
  • Professional certification(s) in procurement such as C.P.M. or C.P.P. is preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, high degree of professionalism and poise, and ability to work both independently and in work teams are required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Strong skills and comfort level in the use of ERP and other technology solutions related to procurement and retail management are preferred.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products including Windows, Excel, Word, and related programs is preferred.
