Byron K. Trippet Assistant Professor of History

The History Department at Wabash College invites applications for a tenure-track Byron K. Trippet Assistant Professor position in U.S. History to begin July 1, 2025.   Research specialization is open to any area of U.S. history. Candidates’ research should be engaged with emerging methods and new historical questions in areas such as environmental history, histories of labor, histories of marginalized groups, histories of U.S. capitalism, political history, sports history, or similar specialties.

Candidates should be qualified to teach a variety of courses in American history, including the two-semester U.S. History survey, African American history, and courses in their area of interest, as well as occasional all-college courses. Course load is 3-3. PhD is required by position starting date.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, an active research agenda, an appreciation for the broad intellectual community of an excellent liberal arts college, the ability to work with a diverse student body, and be willing to contribute appropriate service to the Department and the College. The History Department works actively with many campus programs including Asian Studies, Black Studies, Gender Studies, and Hispanic Studies, and is committed to teaching world history as a background for a range of regionally defined histories
