In Chama, a small town I visited in New Mexico as a student in Professor Calisch's photography course, I met a wood sculptor who did his work with a chainsaw.

I tried to focus on his attention to detail and the concentrated look in his eye. I incorporated some of his finished pieces to show that this was a work in progress—the unsculpted block of wood closest to him will become the already completed Virgin Mary piece in the foreground.
