Wabash College’s Visiting Artists Series will present Omer String Quartet at 8 p.m., Friday, October 25, in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center.
The Omer String Quartet consisting of Mason Yu and Erica Tursi (violins), Joseph Locicero (viola) and Alexander Cox (cello) are the 2013 Grand Prize and Gold Medal winner of the 40th Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, held each year on the campus of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN, is the world's largest chamber music competition. As part of their award, the Omer String Quartet is currently touring the Midwest area, and will tour the Emilia Romagna region of Italy in the summer of 2014.
The OSQ has recently completed chamber music studies as the Apprentice String Quartet at the Cleveland Institute of Music. In addition to performing at the institute, for two years they were the Cleveland Chamber Music Society’s Quartet in Residence through which they performed recitals and presented student programs in numerous Cleveland-area schools. Since its inception in 2009, the quartet has played in master classes by members of the Cuarteto Casals, the Albers Trio, and the Takács, Jupiter, Miro, and Juilliard Quartets.
