Knott earned the honor after throwing a Wabash and NCAC single game record six touchdown passes Saturday (10/21) against Hiram in a 49-19 victory for the Little Giants. Knott finished the day 21-35-0 for 343 yards. He also rushed the ball four times for 32 yards and was not sacked. The six TDs breaks the Wabash record of five in a game set by Bill Padgett ’92 against Franklin College in 1990, and three times by Brett Butler ’90. The NCAC record was five in one game set by seven different players.
Knott also passed Butler on the career passing list with his performance against Hiram on Saturday. In 17 college starts Knott has thrown for 4,253 yards, moving him from fifth to third on the career passing list ahead of Butler and Dave Harvey ’78. Harvey also gave up his spot on the career total offense list to Knott in yesterday's contest. With 4,495 yards of total offense for his career, Knott moved past Harvey into third place on the Wabash all-time list.
Knott is the second Little Giant football player to earn NCAC Player of the Week honors. Linebacker Ryan Freeman (Delphi, IN/Delphi) was named Defensive Player of the Week earlier this year.
