Faculty Profile - Ann Taylor

Name and Title: Professor Ann Taylor.  The Haines Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Division I Chair

Background:  I grew up on a farm in Glyndon, MN.  I attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where I earned my bachelors degree in Chemistry with minors in Biology and Mathematics.  I earned my PhD in Chemistry from Purdue University.  I met my husband Patrick while volunteering at a homeless shelter (he was the director, I was a volunteer) in Lafayette.  We have three children:  Henry (almost 12), Harmony (10), and Hope (5).

Department and specialty at Wabash:  I teach chemistry and biochemistry in the Chemistry Department.

Special involvement at Wabash: I am the incoming Division 1 chair.  I have been involved in the last two accreditation reviews.

Favorite part of Wabash:  I love the community; people look out for each other.

Favorite place on the campus:  The reading room on the second floor of Hays (The Haenisch Reading Room).  It has the best view of the arboretum, and has some fascinating Wabash Chemistry history.

Favorite food:  Chocolate

Something most people don’t know about you:  While I was attending the National 4-H convention in Chicago my freshman year in college (I represented MN in Achievement), I visited the Art Institute and was fascinated by the Seurat painting.  The docent asked if I was an art critic!  Art History was my favorite class in college.
