Name: Joe Haklin

Background: I graduated from Chesterton High School in northern Indiana in 1969. I majored in history at Wabash and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1973. I earned a masters degree in athletic administration at Wayne State University in 1981. I coached college basketball for 23 years before becoming a collegiate athletic director nine years ago. I have been married to my wife, Marilyn, for 38 years. We have a daughter, Kathryn, who is a 28 year old doctoral student in French at Johns Hopkins University.

Department and specialty at Wabash: I am the Director of Athletics and Campus Wellness at Wabash.

Special involvement at Wabash: I am a member of the Sphinx Club. Lettered 11 times: Football (4); Basketball (3); and Baseball (4). Member of the Hall of Fame, Induction Class of 1991.

Favorite part of Wabash: Being around ambitious students on a daily basis.

Favorite place on the campus: Any athletic venue following a Wabash victory and listening to our guys sing Old Wabash with enthusiasm!

Favorite food: Chicken (served in an infinite variety of ways!)

Something most people don’t know about you: I love blues music. I am an avid student of the genre.
