Name: Susan Easterling Albrecht
Your background: I was born in Wyandotte, Michigan, but was pretty much a Crawfordsvillian from the start, since my dad accepted a job teaching Physics at Wabash the year that I was born. I received my B.S. in Psychology from Earlham College, my Master’s in Counseling and Counselor Education from IU, taught Social Studies at Martinsville H.S. for 5 years, and then returned to the Wabash & Crawfordsville communities when I joined the library staff in 1995. I am in my 3rd term as a Crawfordsville school board member.
Department and specialty at Wabash: Library Video Collection Manager and Graduate Fellowship Advisor. The GFA position is new this school year and involves working with students – both graduating seniors and undergraduates – who are interested in applying for nationally-competitive fellowships and scholarships, such as Fulbright, Rhodes, Gates-Cambridge, Goldwater, Truman and Gilman.
Special involvement at Wabash: Honorary Sphinx Club member, game clock operator for home basketball games, and #1 Fan (well, okay, Top Ten anyway) of the Wabash Soccer program.
Favorite part of Wabash: 2nd semester Sphinx Rhynies at home basketball games! That’s one favorite, anyway. Actually, I really enjoy and appreciate the fact that faculty and staff so often develop close relationships with students outside of class.
Favorite place on the campus: Lilly Library, of course!
Favorite food: Little Mexico’s Burrito Loco.
Something most people don’t know about you: I was captain of the Earlham College tennis team.
