Wabash Glee Club |
The tradition of group singing at Wabash College dates back to 1859. The liberal arts college for men made a name for itself in music in the 1920s when it earned a national championship in intercollegiate competition. Since 1950 the ensemble has toured widely, recorded, and expanded its national reputation.
Under the direction of Dr. Lawrence Bennett and accompanied by Ms. Cheryl Everett, the Glee Club will sing a program of sacred music by Tallis, Monteverdi, and Praetorius; love songs by Gastoldi and the American composer David Dickau; folk songs and spirituals. A select group, known as the T-Tones will offer a variety of lighter selections, including the well-known song, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and a jazz arrangement of “Talkin’ a Chance on Love.”
