Wabash College is ranked among the best liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report in its annual ranking of the nation’s top colleges, which was released Wednesday.
Wabash ranked in the top tier of national liberal arts colleges by the publication, a designation that places the College in the top-30 percent of all 236 ranked schools. According to the listing, Wabash posted a higher-than-predicted graduation rate and the College’s alumni giving rate is higher than 32 of the top 50 national liberal arts colleges and 46 of 50 national universities.
“It is always a good thing to be recognized among the top tier of national liberal arts colleges, with whom we share a commitment to undergraduate education,” said Wabash President Gregory D. Hess. “Books like the U.S. News College Guide, Loren Pope’s Colleges That Change Lives, and Princeton Review’s Best 380 Colleges often illustrate important distinctions between colleges and universities. These tools can also help high school students and their families make informed decisions about which schools to visit. Colleges have personalities, and at Wabash we believe that students who visit better understand the excellence of our faculty and facilities, and our commitment to changing the lives of young men.”
Wabash was also recognized as an “A+ School for B Students” by U.S. News as an institution “where nonsuperstars have a decent shot at being accepted and thriving – where spirit and hard work could make all the difference to admissions,” according to the publication’s criteria.

U.S. News rankings are based on a weighted breakdown of the following criteria: graduation and retention (22.5%), assessment of 
excellence (22.5%), faculty resources (20%), student selectivity (12.5%), financial resources (10%), graduation rate performance (7.5%), and alumni giving (5%).
The U.S. News ranking comes on the heels of the College being named one of the best institutions for undergraduate education by the Princeton Review in its annual listing of the top 380 schools across the country. Wabash ranked No. 5 nationally for “Most Accessible Professors,” No. 7 for “Best College Professors,” and No. 19 for “Professors Get High Marks,” citing highly knowledgeable “top notch” faculty who push them academically and challenge their thinking, but are supportive and helpful. The College’s student:faculty ratio is 11:1. The website liberalartscolleges.com ranked Wabash first nationally for its accessible and approachable teaching faculty.
