Wabash Day 2015 - Colorado

Sixteen alumni and friends came together on a sunny and warm Colorado morning for our annual W.A.B.A.S.H. Day event. Once again we partnered with The Action Center in Lakewood.

The Action Center was founded in 1968 as a private, non-profit organization to help those facing hunger, homelessness and financial instability. Their goal has been to provide basic human needs while also providing a pathway to self-sufficiency. Phase one of their capital campaign recently provided for a Self-Select Grocery which allows clients to choose their own food alongside a volunteer shopper. This year our volunteer project had us restocking The Action Center's food pantry and grocery for the clients coming in next week. The Action Center provides services to approximately 160 households per day.

After 3 hours of composting molded produce, restocking shelves of canned goods and taking turns inside the freezer reorganizing and replenishing our job was completed. We then retired for some lunch and socializing at a local pub for the early part of the afternoon.
