Media Center, Lilly Library Launch Virtual Media Reserves

The Wabash College Media Center is pleased to announce that the "Virtual Media Reserve" system will be in place for the Spring, 2003, semester.

The "Virtual Media Reserve" (VMR) will replace the traditional media reserve library with an Internet based system that will deliver instructor-selected media assets in streaming format from any computer with a World Wide Web connection. The VMR will provide convenient access to course-specific tracks from the Lilly Library Music Collection. In addition to a high-quality stream, each selection will be displayed along with detailed information and instructor's notes.

This system will largely enhance course offerings from the Music Department and the spring semester "Cultures and Traditions" (C&T) lectures. Any instructor can take advantage of this technology to support and enhance their instructional methods.

The design and implementation of the VMR system has been a collaborative project between the Lilly Library and Computer Services staff using existing campus resources.
