Wabash College Celebrates Employees

Eric Wetzel receives his award from President Greg Hess and Rick Cavanaugh.Wabash College celebrated 38 employees Tuesday at the Annual Faculty and Staff Retirement and Recognition Lunch. Employees with 30, 25, 20, 15, and 10 years of service were honored along with recognition of retirements.

Retirement honorees included Richard Bowen, Assistant Professor of Music, Director of the Glee Club; Robert Foote, Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science; Larry Griffith, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer; Marilyn Smith, Coordinator of Stewardship; and Dwight Watson, Professor of Theater, LaFollette Distinguished Professor in the Humanities.

Recognized for 30 years were James Amidon, President’s Chief of Staff, Director of Strategic Communications, and Secretary of the College; Eva Legg, Administrative Assistant, Campus Services; and Kealoha Widdows, Professor of Economics, John H. Schroeder Interdisciplinary Chair in Economics.

Recognized for 25 years of service was Cheryl Hughes, Professor of Philosophy, Department Chair.

Recognized for 20 years included Rochella Endicott, Administrative Assistant, Division I; Joseph Klen, Associate Dean for College Advancement; Rhonda Maynor, Gifts Processing Coordinator; Joy Rayfield, Sodexo; Peter Thompson, Associate Professor of Mathematics; Mary Towell, Campus Visit Coordinator; and Michele Ward, Senior Coordinator of Alumni and Parent Communications.

Recognized for 15 years of service were Jennifer Abbott, Associate Professor of Rhetoric, Department Chair; Jonathan Baer, Associate Professor of Religion; Anne Bost, Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology; Tony Kochert, Sodexho; Lissa Mason, Coordinator of Trippet Hall; Charles McCormick, Sodexho; David Morgan, Director of Campus Services; Thomas Pearson, Associate Director of Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion; Thomas Perkins, Equipment Manager/Athletic Assistant; Michele Pittard, Associate Professor of Education Studies, Director of the Secondary Licensure Program; J. Gregory Redding, Associate Professor of German; Michelle Rhoades, Associate Professor of History; and William Turner, Associate Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science, Department Chair.

Recognized for 10 years included Crystal Benedicks, Assistant Professor of English; Patrick Burton, Associate Professor of Biology; Christie Byun, Associate Professor of Economics; James Cherry, Associate Professor of Theater, Department Chair; Karen Gunther, Associate Professor of Psychology, Department Chair; Elizabeth Morton, Associated Professor of Art; Nadine Pence, Executive Director of the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion; and Cindy Snellenbarger, Director of Accounting Services.

The National Association of Wabash Men presented Eric Wetzel, Norman Treves Professor of Biology, as the first recipient of the Butler-Turner Student-Alumni Engagement Award. The award, created by the NAWM Board of Directors, is “to honor and recognize members of the Wabash faculty and staff who have made an outstanding contribution to Wabash College by distinguishing themselves through the investment of personal time and resources resulting in a significant impact on Wabash students and/or alumni.”
