To kick off a new school year, we asked our Twitter followers to share their words of Wabash wisdom for our incoming students. Here’s what some of our alumni, professors, and current students had to say:

 

• Soak in the experience. Do Chapel Sing, go to plays, sporting events, lectures, and cookouts. Talk to your professors, and not just about class.  And most importantly, if you want to try something, no matter how uncomfortable, try it. #WelcomeToWabash - Tom Norman ’09 

 

• Be vulnerable, jump right in. If you fall, so what? Wabash Always Fights is a way of life. Be curious, ask questions. Don’t be afraid to share how you feel. Most importantly, cherish every moment you have receiving a top-tier education. WAF. - Jordan Hansen ’18 

 

• Go to Chapel on Thursdays!! My biggest regret is that I didn’t start going until senior year. It’s a tradition you won’t find anywhere else, and is at the heart of what makes Wabash a true Liberal Arts experience. #WelcomeToWabash - Luke Robbins ’11 

 

• Don't be afraid to seek help and ask questions - no matter how big or small. There isn't a single person at Wabash College - student or staff - not willing to lend a helping hand. - Wabash International Student Association

• When your coach or whoever asks you to find out how you're doing in your classes, don't just ask for the grade and a signature. It's an opportunity to start a conversation with your professor - not to avoid one. - Associate Professor of Political Science Shamira Gelbman

• Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You are surrounded by brothers, coaches, and professors that want nothing more than for you to succeed #WelcomeToWabash - Ryan Hahn ’21 

 

• Say hello to everyone you pass when walking on campus. Do as many immersion and PIE (Professional Immersion Experience) trips as they will let you. Stop stray alumni on campus and ask them to tell you a story. Listen. Lunch with people you don’t know. THINK CRITICALLY. Cry when you sing the Alma Mater. - Hugh Vandivier ’91

• Get involved and get to know people. Staff, professors, classmates, other students, and alumni can change your life. Whoever you meet could be your next mentor or biggest support system. • There are great professors all across campus. The upperclassmen will speak of them in reverential terms. Regardless of your major, challenge yourself to take classes from as many of them as you can. #WelcomeToWabash - Joe Pieters ’89
