The Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies in partnership with Steward Speakers, is delighted to welcome Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr. to Wabash College. He will speak on Friday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in Salter Hall.
One of the nation's most prominent scholars, Glaude is a passionate educator, author, political commentator, and public intellectual who examines the complex dynamics of the American experience.
Steven Jones, Dean for Professional Development and Director of the MXIBS calls Glaude “a profound, powerful scholar of religion and African American history.”
Glaude is the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University, where he is also the chair of the Center for African American Studies and the chair of the Department of African American Studies.
A highly accomplished and respected scholar of religion, Glaude is also on the Morehouse College Board of Trustees. He frequently appears in the media, as a columnist for TIME Magazine and as an MSNBC contributor on programs like Morning Joe and Deadline White House. He also regularly appears on Meet the Press, the Sunday morning news program on NBC. Combining a scholar's knowledge of history, a political commentator's take on the latest events, and an activist's passion for social justice, Glaude challenges all to examine our collective American conscience.
“In short, having Eddie Glaude at Wabash is a fantastic chance to hear the smartest, most important current commentator in America on issues of race and the crisis of democracy,” said Emeritus Professor of History Peter Frederick H’92. “Don't miss him!”
The event is free and open to the public; tickets can be reserved by registering here.
