Little Giants Can't Hang On In Loss To Earlham

Wabash took a 50-48 lead with ten minutes to go in the game, but could not hang on as Earlham gave the Little Giants their first North Coast Athletic Conference loss of the season in a 70-64 contest.

Earlham jumped out to an 8-2 lead before Wabash went on a run of its own. The Little Giants outscored the Quakers 12-0 to take a 14-8 lead. It was sign of things to come. The game saw the score tied six times with 13 lead changes before the Quakers took a 54-52 lead with 7:22 remaining and never trailed again.

Joe DesJean (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) continued with the hot shooting hand for the Little Giants. After setting a career scoring high of 18 points last weekend, the sophomore forward topped that with 25 points against Earlham. He added 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. DesJean also finished with two blocked shots and three assists in 33 minutes of action.

Wabash got good play from guards Brady Claxton (Shelbyville, IN/Shelbyville) and Matt Storm (Anderson, IN/Lapel). Claxton finished with 10 points, tying his season-high, and four assists. He also had five rebounds in the game. Storm hit two three-pointers on his way to 10 points. The freshman guard added three assists and two steals late in the game to cut the Earlham lead to five points.

Wabash falls to 0-3, 0-1 in the NCAC with the loss while Earlham moves to 3-0 and 1-0 in the NCAC. The Little Giants travel to DePauw on Monday (11/27) for a 7:30 tipoff.
