Healy, Miller Grab Wins Against Purdue

Wabash wrestlers Chris Healy (JR/Jasper, IN/Jasper) and Adam Miller (JR/Pendleton, IN/Pendleton Heights) (left) picked up individual victories on Saturday night in the Little Giants’ dual meet against Purdue University. Wabash lost the overall dual meet by a final score of 32-6.

 

 

 

Miller was the first Wabash grappler to score against the Boilermakers. The junior captured a 4-1 win over Purdue’s Craig Shaw at 157 pounds. Healy (right) remained undefeated for the season after scoring a 7-3 win against the Boilermakers’ Mark Groski at 174 pounds.

Three other Wabash wrestlers kept their matches close. Senior Marcus Ellison (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) dropped a 4-3 match to Bryan Kapp at heavyweight. Will Clarke (FR/Indianapolis, IN/North Central) did not pick up any individual points, but kept Purdue’s Nathan Moore to only five points in the 197-pound bout. Junior Drew McCoy (Cumberland, IN/New Palestine) also lost a five-point decision, losing 7-2 to Paul Sacquitne at 149 pounds.

The Little Giants will continue their competition against NCAA Division I opponents on Sunday afternoon. Wabash will participate in the IU Duals, wrestling against Gardner Webb, Eastern Illinois, and Indiana University beginning at noon.
