Little Giant Wrestlers Defeat Division I Gardner Webb at IU Duals

Five Wabash wrestlers earned victories on Sunday afternoon against Gardner-Webb, giving the Little Giants a 22-21 over the Division I opponenet at the IU Duals. The Little Giants finished the day 1-2 overall, losing 38-12 to Indiana and 40-6 to Eastern Illinois.

Freshman Eric Slabaugh (Tucson, AZ/Flowing Wells) opened the match against Gardner-Webb with a 5-2 win at 133 pounds. Junior Adam Miller (Pendleton, IN/Pendleton) (left) won his second match against a Division I opponenet in as many days, following up his victory in Wabash's dual meet against Purdue on Saturday at 157 pounds with a 6-3 win over Adam Glaser of Gardner-Webb on Sunday. A forfeit win by junior Chris Healy (Jasper, IN/Jasper) at 174 pounds gave the Little Giants another six points, followed by a 14-6 major decision victory by Keith Garrard (New Castle, IN/New Castle Chrysler) at 184 pounds. Wabash secured the win with a pin by heavyweight senior Marcus Ellison (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) 2:47 into his match against Titus Phile to help the Little Giants hold on for the one-point victory.

Miller and Healy were the only victors on the mat for Wabash against the Hoosiers in the opening match of the day. Miller claimed a 5-2 decision against IU's J.P. Stanley after Slabaugh had scored the first six points for Wabash with a forfeit at 133 pounds. Healy added a 4-2 victory at 174 pounds.

Garrard (left) won by forfeit against Eastern Illinois for the only Little Giant victory. Healy saw his undefeated season come to an end with a 5-2 loss to Eastern's Kenny Robertson.
