The Wabash wrestling team opened the home portion of its 2000-2001 season against the University of Chicago on Tuesday evening, with the Little Giants falling 39-15.
Bobby Beyer (Brownsburg, IN/Ritter) took the only decision by points for Wabash in the match. The senior scored two takedowns in the first two periods, then scored an escape in the third period and a point for riding time to win 6-3 at 184-pounds.
Danny King (New Castle, IN/New Castle Chrysler) won at 157-pounds after an injury default in the first period.
Jason Chapman (Carthage, IN) was a winner by forfeit at 285-pounds.
Wabash falls to 0-4 with the loss. Wabash will be the site for the Little State Wrestling Tournament this Friday and Saturday. Seventeen teams will participate, beginning at noon on Friday.
