Wabash Falls to Illinois Wesleyan in Final Non-Conference Contest

The Wabash basketball team’s road woes continued on Wednesday night. The Little Giants committed 16 first half turnovers on the way to a 94-67 defeat by Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Illinois.

The Little Giants took an early 7-6 lead, but quickly fell behind after managing 30 shots and 16 miscues in the first half. Wabash was 11-of-30 from the field to trail the Titans 56-26 at the break.

Wabash would get no closer than 25 points in the second stanza to lose its final non-conference game of the season and fall to 5-7 for the year. The loss was the fourth of the year for the Little Giants on the road.

Sophomore Caleb Lyttle (Sullivan, IN/Sullivan) led Wabash with nine points. Senior Zeljko Gavranovic (Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina/St. Mary’s, AZ) added eight points, as did freshman Mark Bower (Bloomington, IN/Bloomington South). Wabash couldn’t find an answer for IWU’s Adam Dauksas, who finished 10-of-14 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from the three-point arc to finish with 29 points to lead the Titans.

Wabash returns to Chadwick Court on Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. contest against North Coast Athletic Conference foe Oberlin.
